The Geographic Location: It lies right at the transition zone to the Western Ore Mountains (Westerzgebirge). Because of its position within the broader mountain range, geological and mineralogical databases classify it directly as part of the Ore Mountains range.The "Jugend-Schacht" (Youth Shaft): Also formally cataloged as Shaft 252, this was a major uranium mine operated by the Soviet-German SDAG Wismut during the post-WWII uranium boom of the 1950s
