This is a personal best right here and one of my favorite pieces. This Tyuyamunite on Coffinite in Sandstone comes from La Sal #2 Mine near Gateway, CO which is the Type Locality for Coffinite! The Tyuyamunite is exceptionally well crystallized and has graced my display for quite some time. This piece is self standing and showcases yellow Tyuyamunite on both sides with one side showing better than great crystal formations on beautiful dark black Coffinite granules in sandstone.
Type Locality specimens from defunct mines are quite the collectors item.
